The post and telegraph office was built by the Ottoman government in the late 19th century and it was referred to locally as "the post office", al-Būsṭa. Gatt's map of 1888 refers to it as "Telegraph Building", Dār al-Teleghrāf. The building was demolished in the 1960s. It is commemorated by the street name "Post Office Street", Shāriʿ al-Būsta.
