"Mufti's Street", probably named after the large mansion of the Ḥusaynī (al-Muftī) family nearby (cf. Mubayyiḍ, Bināyāt, 327-28). The Sibāṭ al-Muftī and the "Dār al-Muftī" are the most impressive architectural monuments to this family, which was also known as "al-Ḥusaynī al-Muftī", due to its long association with the Mufti's office in Gaza.
